This presentation introduces a high-resolution current-mode gate driver that enables fine-grained control of gate current during turn-on and turn-off transitions. Unlike existing solutions with limited adjustment steps, the proposed driver offers 127 programmable levels, enabling dynamic switching loss optimization across diverse operating conditions. By dynamically tailoring the gate current profile, the method reduces switching losses while maintaining safe operating margins for the power devices. Specifically, it limits peak drain current during turn-on (mitigating overshoot from ringing) and peak drain voltage during turn-off (controlling voltage spikes from parasitic inductances).
