This paper compares two different SiC/Si hybrid ANPC topologies, and shows a solution for renewable energy applications such as solar power conversion systems (PCS) based on SiC MOSFETs with ultra-high efficiency (>99%) at a switching frequency of 60 kHz. A prototype of a single-phase 33kW ANPC bi-directional converter based on discrete SiC MOSFETs in parallel is built to show the ability of SiC discrete devices to target 100 kW ~ 200 kW power rating when extending to three phase ANPC in this work.
