    D05.9 - Hierarchical Virtual Oscillator Control Based on Andronov-Hopf Oscillator for Microgrid Black Start

    Conventional Virtual Oscillator Control (VOC) enables inverters to achieve fast dynamics, global asymptotic stability, intrinsic synchronization, and effective power sharing. However, during practical situations such as black start, when multiple microgrids must coordinate and reconnect to the main grid, relying on VOC alone can lead to severe inrush currents and bus voltage drops, despite guaranteed asymptotic stability and eventual synchronization. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a hierarchical VOC framework based on the Andronov-Hopf oscillator (AHO), maintaining the dynamics of AHO on the primary level, while also enabling reliable coordination among multiple microgrids and between microgrids and the main grid through secondary level and tertiary level, under realistic black start conditions.
