This paper investigates the often-overlooked passivity issues of grid-connected inverters operating above the Nyquist frequency. While traditional passivity analyses focus on low-frequency behavior, research on sampling frequency and control delay effects on high-frequency passivity remains limited. This study develops single- and multi-frequency admittance models with frequency aliasing to quantify discrepancies caused by these factors. Results show that higher sampling frequency mitigates aliasing impact, whereas longer control delay enlarges the negative damping region at high frequencies. Based on this, a passivity-constrained damping design is proposed to balance power loss and passivity enhancement. Experimental validation confirms the method’s effectiveness in improving stability in aliasing-dominated high-frequency regions.
