To match the distributed nature of loads, DC microgrids (DCMGs) need to be configured in radial topology as in AC power distribution systems. However, available droop control techniques of DCMGs are introduced considering supplying power to loads at a central bus. The traditional approaches can yield poor performance if applied in radial systems due to the distributed voltage drops in the system lines. In this paper, a novel topology for sources in DCMGs is proposed using dual active bridge converters (DAB) with cascaded output ports to compensate for voltage drop in radial systems and retain the performance of the original droop method. The paper presents the proposed topology of the DAB converter, its configuration with the radial DCMGs, and the associated control scheme. Through simulation studies, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated where the experimental setup is underway to be presented in the final paper
