This paper presents the Compliance Feasibility Study (CFS) tool for precise EMI filter design. CFS models converter common-mode noise using Thevenin equivalent circuits characterized through two simple measurements and employs four-port VNA with mixed-mode S-parameters for accurate CM choke modeling. The tool determines Y-capacitor configurations based on impedance mismatch principles, automatically screens suitable CM chokes, and provides filtered EMI previews. Experimental validation confirms high design accuracy. Compared to traditional test-and-error methods, CFS significantly reduces EMC test iterations, development costs, and time-to-market while enabling non-specialists to perform effective filter design.
