D18.6 - Battery Supercapacitor HESS for Sudden Power Delivery in Smartphone Circuits and Fast Charging

Modern smartphones face high power demands during short bursts of activity like Bluetooth transfers, Wi-Fi scanning, refreshing, scrolling, and camera flash use, which can strain lithium-ion batteries. This study introduces a hybrid energy storage system combining a rechargeable battery and a supercapacitor. The supercapacitor converter is charged in a smartphone charger, which can do fast charging or from the battery. This supercapacitor topology is used to handle rapid current requirements. This system can increase efficiency in fast charging and reliability, offering a promising solution for next-generation smartphone power management.
