T15.5 - Distributed Cooperative Control for Multi-Parallel EVs Connected to DC Microgrid: Proposal and Demonstration with a Solar Carport

DC microgrids that integrate photovoltaic (PV) systems and electric vehicles (EVs) enable efficient power exchange between these components. However, they typically rely on stationary storage batteries to maintain the power balance. This study proposes a distributed cooperative control method in which EVs collaboratively absorb power fluctuations to eliminate the need for stationary batteries. The proposed method introduces a controller that adjusts the voltage reference values based on aggregated information from each device. These values are applied to voltage-controlled DC-DC converters connected in parallel to ensure voltage stability and accurate current sharing. Experiments using a demonstration system comprising two Vehicle to everything (V2X) compatible bidirectional chargers and a 15 kW PV array confirmed that EVs alone can stabilize the grid voltage, even under steep PV output variations, while maintaining precise current sharing. This method presents a practical solution for EV charging system that does not require stationary batteries.
