This paper presents an overvoltage mitigation with minimum-loss discontinuous PWM in SiC inverter systems. Voltage reflection in SiC inverter systems with long transmission lines can cause an overvoltage exceeding twice the input voltage, which is known as the double pulsing effect. The proposed PWM method uses the current angle to define the discontinuous region of DPWM and modulates the reference voltage to mitigate the double pulsing effect. A flowchart of the proposed mitigation method with minimum-loss discontinuous PWM is presented. The validity of the proposed method is verified through simulations and experiments. Additional experimental results and deep analysis under various conditions will be added in the final paper.
