This paper presents a novel application of the Single Active Bridge (SAB) converter as an Active Input Current Shaper (AICS) for single-stage power factor correction (PFC). Traditionally used as a unidirectional isolated DC/DC converter, the SAB is adapted here to simultaneously regulate output voltage and shape the input current by recycling power through an auxiliary output. Additionally, a detailed design guide is provided. Experimental validation using a 130 W LED load powered from a 250 V, 50 Hz grid demonstrates compliance with IEC 61000-3-2 Class C harmonic standards.
