Dr Faysal Hardan received his MSc and PhD qualifications in power electronics and advanced variable-speed AC machine drives from the University of Bradford in England in years 1992 and 1996, respectively. Then he was seconded at Alstom Drives & Controls and RAL in the UK for developing high-power flywheel energy storage system for wind power conditioning, and subsequently, he was based at the Industrial Control Centre in Strathclyde University.
Since 2021, he has been an academic research fellow at the University of Birmingham in England, involved in supervision of master and PhD students in addition to research projects. He collaborates with organisations in the UK and EU industrial establishments on UK DfT, UKRI and EU funded projects. Previously, he was a visiting scholar and academic researcher at Newcastle University, involved in research and teaching within the university electrical/electronic engineering programme.
In 2016, Dr Hardan participated in an EU funded Erasmus+ event as a senior academic, where he delivered lectures on power-electronic systems and computer programming, and was a member of international committee on globalization of teaching programmes as part of the Erasmus+ collaboration activities.
