Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden
Jan Herold was born in Lichtenfels, Germany, in 1994. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen–Nürnberg, Germany, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. Since 2018, he has been a systems engineer with the Valeo Power Division (formerly Valeo-Siemens eAutomotive GmbH), where he works on the development of control algorithms for high-voltage automotive traction drives. Since 2022, he has also been affiliated with the EMI Department at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg–Weiden, Germany, where he is pursuing the Ph.D. degree in cooperation with the Institute of Power Electronics and Control of Drives, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. His research interests include advanced control techniques for electrical drives and operating strategies for AC drives considering multiple system constraints. His current research focuses on high-dynamic current control and sensorless control of electrically excited synchronous machines for automotive traction applications.
