Martin Plesnik (S’96-M’16-SM’20) received the DiplEng. degree in electrical engineering from the STU in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1985, and MASc. and PhD. degrees in electrical engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada in 2002 and 2016 respectively. His has more than 30 years of experience in the field of power electronics and his areas of specialization include development, design, and manufacturing of power supply systems for wireless, optical, and wire-line telecommunication equipment.
He is the author of multiple papers and inventions in the areas of numerical analysis and simulation of switching power converters, switching power converter design, and power system design. In 2015, he was promoted to Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) at Bell Labs in NJ, USA and received the Outstanding Engineering Award from the IEEE Ottawa Section in the same year, both honors were awarded in recognition of his continuous innovation and sustained technical contributions to the development of power supply technologies for wireless application.
He has worked at Nortel, Innovance Networks, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia as a senior designer and technology leader. In 2022, he was appointed Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Electronics at Carleton University and currently works at Ericsson Canada Inc. as a senior developer. His current research interests include the development of efficient power architectures for 5G and 6G wireless systems operating under strict power limit constraints.
