Edward-Yi Chang received the B.S. degree in materials science and engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1977, and the Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA, in 1985. He is currently the Dean of the International College of Semiconductor Technology (ICST), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Hsinchu, where he is also the Chief Director of the Microelectronics and Information Research Center (MIRC) and the Head of the NYCU-TSMC Research Center. He is a Professor with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Electronics Engineering. He founded the first Taiwan GaAs Components Company, Hexawave Inc., in 1992, and became the President of Company, in 1997. His research interests include III-V sub-millimeter wave high-frequency device applications and packaging, GaN-on-Si, GaN-on-SiC, GaN-on-sapphire high-power device epitaxy, and processing.
