GE Aerospace
Sam Mahmodicherati is a Senior Power Electronics Engineer at GE Aerospace with more than 15 years of experience in the design, analysis, validation, and production support of high-performance power conversion systems for industrial automation, aerospace, defense, and ruggedized applications. His technical expertise spans AC/DC and DC/DC switch-mode power supplies, high-power inverters, and bidirectional converters, with a strong emphasis on power density, efficiency, reliability, and compliance with stringent military and aerospace standards.
At GE Aerospace, Dr. Mahmodicherati has led and contributed to numerous mission-critical programs involving wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies (SiC and GaN), advanced converter topologies, high-frequency magnetics, and EMI/EMC-constrained designs compliant with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, and DO-160 requirements.
Dr. Mahmodicherati holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics from The University of Akron. He has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed IEEE journal and conference papers and holds a U.S. patent related to energy storage systems. In addition to his industrial role, he serves as an adjunct faculty member teaching advanced power electronics at the graduate level. His current technical interests include high-frequency power conversion, wide-bandgap power modules, EMI-aware design methodologies, and high-reliability power architectures for aerospace platforms.
