Sung-Yeul Park (S’04-M’09) received the M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He joined the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, USA in 2009 in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and currently work as an Associate Professor. His research interests include smart energy and power conversion systems for renewable and distributed generations, smart battery charging and management systems, and smart power networked microgrid applications. He has received several international paper awards including a third paper award at the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting in 2004, a best paper award at IEEE Power Conversion Conference (IPCC) 2007, an outstanding writing award in the International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC) in 2007. In addition, he received an NSF Career Award in 2015.
