Kang Hean Ming, M.Eng. (Member, IEEE), is an Engineer at ST Engineering Satellite Systems and an industrial PhD candidate at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Hean Ming established his academic background at Temasek Polytechnic, graduating in 2014 with a Diploma in Clean Energy, a Gold Medal, and the A*STAR Science Award (Polytechnic) in 2013 and 2014. During this period, he also completed a Diploma Plus in Business. He subsequently earned his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NUS in 2019 and 2022, respectively. As an undergraduate, he was a recipient of the NUS Merit Scholarship and participated in both the Global Engineering Programme (GEP) and the University Town College Programme (UTCP) at Residential College 4 (RC4). He is currently pursuing a PhD at NUS under the EDB Industrial Postgraduate Programme (EDB-IPP).
Hean Ming’s professional experience includes serving as a Research Engineer at the NUS Satellite Technology and Research Centre (STAR) from August 2019 to July 2020. Since November 2022, he has been with ST Engineering Satellite Systems, where he integrates advanced research into Power Control and Distribution Unit (PCDU) modules. His primary research interests include electric vehicle drivetrains, bidirectional power converters, and high-efficiency power electronics, with a focus on dual-active-bridge optimization and satellite power systems.
