Sara Ahmed is an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas San Antonio. She received her B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering with a Power Electronics concentration from Virginia Tech, Center for Power Electronics in 2006, 2007, and 2011 respectively. In 2011, she joined ABB’s U.S Corporate Research Center in Raleigh, NC as a Scientist and was promoted in 2014 to a Senior Scientist. In 2016, Dr. Ahmed joined the University of Texas at San Antonio as an Assistant Professor and was promoted in 2022 to Associate Professor with tenure. From 2022 to 2024, she served as an Associate Dean Fellow for graduate studies in the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design, University of Texas at San Antonio. Her research interests include modeling and control of power electronics converters and systems, integration of renewables, stability and fault analysis of power electronics systems and hardware-in-the-loop modeling and testing. She is a senior member of IEEE and a member of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, IEEE Power and Energy Society and IEEE Education Society. She holds 10 U.S. patents, 2 U.S. patent applications and more than 60 referred publications.
