Carlos Henrique Illa Font was born in Erval Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He received the B.S. (2001), M.S. (2003), and Ph.D. (2009) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil.
He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR), Campus Ponta Grossa, Brazil. His research interests focus on power electronics, including power factor correction, AC-DC converters, bidirectional DC–DC converters, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Dr. Illa Font has authored and co-authored more than 100 technical papers published in seminars, conferences, and peer-reviewed journals. In 2025, he was awarded a Research Grant from the Araucária Foundation for the Support of Scientific and Technological Development of the State of Paraná to lead the project “Bidirectional DC-DC Converters for BESS Connection in Distributed Microgeneration Systems.”
He has been a member of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and the Brazilian Power Electronics Society (SOBRAEP) since 2003.
