Rakibul Islam (S’06-M’08-SM’11) received the B.Sc. degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1995, the M. Sc. degree from University of Detroit Mercy, Detroit, MI, in 2002, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Akron, Akron, OH in 2009 all in electrical engineering.
In January 2007, he joined the Delphi Automotive (currently known as Nexteer Automotive), Saginaw, MI, where he was involved with the development of brushless motors and magnetic sensors for automotive applications. He also worked with Dura Automotive, Auburn Hills, MI from July 2018 to January 2020 and with TRW Automotive, Sterling Heights, MI, in the summers of 2005 and 2006. Currently, he is with Dauch corporation (formerly known as American Axle & Manufacturing) as senior technical manager in the e-drive area. His research interests are in the areas of electric drive systems for the automotive actuators (electric power steering, e-shifters etc) and vehicle propulsion involving electric motors, drives, sensors, and related sub-systems. Currently he is the senior technical manager at American Axle and Manufacturing, Detroit, MI.
