Rolando Burgos is the Director of the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) at Virginia Tech and a professor in The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently the Chair for the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Expo (ECCE) Executive Committee, after having served as General Chair of ECCE 2024. Previously, he was the chair of the IEEE Power Electronics Society’s Technical Committee on "Power and Control Core Technologies." He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Concepción in 1999 and 2002, respectively. Dr. Burgos joined CPES at Virginia Tech as a postdoctoral fellow in 2002, later becoming a research scientist and research assistant professor. In 2009 he joined ABB Corporate Research in Raleigh, NC. He later returned to Virginia Tech in 2012 as an associate professor earning and early-decision tenure in 2017, being promoted to professor in 2019. Since 2021 he has served as the Director of CPES, contributing to advancements in power electronics and control technologies.
