    A novel fully digital control strategy is presented for a six-phase interleaved four-switch buck-boost (FSBB) converter targeting high-power battery backup units (BBU) with wide input voltage range. The proposed methodology supports efficient transition between buck, boost and buck-boost mode under dynamic load/line conditions and during soft-start. It also improves light load efficiency by deploying phase shedding and burst mode mechanism. Operating under closed-loop peak current mode control (PCMC), the system utilizes an MCU with on-chip comparator and slope compensation ramp generator for real-time cycle-by-cycle current regulation. The converter hardware features six interleaved phases with bidirectional capability. Experimental results are validated on the same with input range of 28–60 V and output of 50V bus. the performance making this approach well-suited for BBU and capacitor backup units in data center and server power systems.
