Queen's University
Dr. Yan-Fei Liu is a Fellow of IEEE (2013), a Fellow of CAE (2018) and a Fellow of NAI (2025). His research focuses on architecture, topologies, control and analysis of power electronics systems, such as low voltage, high current VRM technologies for AI GPU application, three-phase AC to DC power conversions to EV charger and data center applications, cost effective digital control for consumer electronics, as well as DC to DC converters for EV and communication applications. He has authored more than 300 technical papers in the IEEE Transactions and conferences and holds 75 U.S. patents. He served as a Principal Contributor for two IEEE standards. He received IEEE Canada P.D. Ziogas Electric Power Award in 2025, Queen’s Prize for Excellence in Research in 2020, “Modeling and Control Achievement Award” from IEEE Power Electronics Society in 2017.
Dr. Liu has served IEEE in the following capacities: chair of the IEEE Medal in Power Engineering Committee (2024 – 2025); founding Editor of IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics of Power Electronics (IEEE JESTPE) since 2013; Vice President of PELS Technical Operations (2017 to 2020); General Chair of ECCE 2019 Baltimore, USA; Guest Editor-in-Chief of TPEL Special Issues and PELS TC chairs.
